Privacy Policy - ClimbUp

Summary: ClimbUp does not sell your data, show ads, or track you across apps or websites. Raw HealthKit samples stay on your device. Social features use Apple Game Center and CloudKit only for the data needed to provide rankings, squads, and challenges.
HealthKit Data
ClimbUp reads HealthKit data such as flights climbed, steps, active energy, heart rate, and workout history to show your stair-climbing journey, workouts, progress, and mission forecasts.
Raw HealthKit samples are processed locally on your iPhone or Apple Watch. We do not send raw HealthKit samples, heart-rate samples, calorie samples, or workout samples to our own servers.
Apple Health Writing
When you start a ClimbUp workout, the app may save workout records to Apple Health if you grant permission. You can manage Health permissions at any time in the Apple Health app or iOS Settings.
Social Features
Optional social features such as leaderboards, Squads, and weekly PK challenges use Apple Game Center identity and Apple CloudKit. To make those features work, ClimbUp may share:
- Your Game Center player identifier and display alias.
- Derived floor counts, such as cumulative floors or challenge contribution totals.
- User-created social content, such as a Squad name or invite code.
These values are used only for app functionality such as rankings, team progress, invitations, account deletion, and challenge state. They are not used for tracking or advertising.
Purchases
ClimbUp is sold as a paid app through the App Store. We do not process payment card information and the app does not contain in-app purchases or subscriptions.
Tracking and Analytics
ClimbUp uses TelemetryDeck to understand whether the app delivers lasting value. It receives a small set of product-interaction signals such as first launch, activation, a daily app return, viewing updated journey progress, completing a Live Climb, and reaching a milestone.
ClimbUp never includes HealthKit samples, floor counts, steps, heart rate, calories, workout values, Game Center identity, contact information, or advertising identifiers in analytics signals. TelemetryDeck hashes an installation-level device identifier before transmission so aggregate retention can be measured without identifying you. These signals are not used for advertising, profiling, or cross-app tracking.
You can turn off Anonymous Analytics at any time in ClimbUp under You > Support & Privacy.
Deleting Data
You can delete local app data from the app's settings or by deleting the app. The in-app delete flow also attempts to remove your ClimbUp social records from CloudKit public database records associated with your Game Center identity. HealthKit data remains under your control in the Apple Health app. Analytics signals do not contain information that ClimbUp can use to identify an individual.
